Every October, credit unions around the world come together to celebrate International Credit Union Day, and this year it takes place on Thursday 15 October.
It’s a chance to celebrate what makes credit unions a little different. Our history, our people and, most importantly, the members and communities we’re here to serve.
This year’s theme is “Cooperative Finance: A Steady Signal in a Noisy World.”
And, actually, that feels pretty fitting.
Cutting through the noise
There’s no shortage of financial noise out there.
Whether it’s rising costs, conflicting information online, the latest money trend popping up on your feed, or simply trying to work out what’s best for you and your family, managing money can sometimes feel more complicated than it needs to be.
Credit unions offer something a bit different.
We’re owned by our members, rooted in our communities and built around the idea that financial services should work for people. Not shareholders.
For us, being a “steady signal” means being somewhere our members can turn for straightforward support, fair financial products and a real person to speak to when they need one.
Part of something much bigger
International Credit Union Day has been celebrated since 1948 and brings together credit unions and financial cooperatives across the world.
Different countries, different communities, but a shared purpose: people helping people.
It’s something we’re proud to be part of, and over the next couple of weeks we’ll be sharing a little more about what International Credit Union Day means to us, our team and our members.
And we might have something else up our sleeve for the big day too…
Keep an eye on our website and socials as we get closer to 15 October.
